Number One with a Bullet (2008)

Documentary, Music

Some of today's most successful hip-hop stars have something in common, besides successful careers. They've all been shot and lived to rap about it. From the ghettos of Philadelphia to the boardrooms of Los Angeles, Number One with a Bullet is a feature-length documentary that pulls back the curtain on gun violence in hip-hop America. The film follows five rappers who've survived being shot (Young Buck, B Real, Obie Trice, The Last Mr. Bigg and 40 Glocc) as they take viewers back to the scene of the crime and into their darkest hours. They are joined by a diverse cast of hip-hop luminaries (Mos Def, KRS One, Ice Cube, Prodigy, Jerry Heller and more), community activists, police officers, doctors and citizens to expose the physical, mental and emotional scars of gun violence in the streets and in the music. From QD3 Entertainment - producers of Lil Wayne's "The Carter," "Crips & Bloods: Made in America," Tupac's "Thug Angel" and the "BEEF" series - Number One with a Bullet is a groundbreaking look into the epidemiology of gun violence within urban America. Experience the pain, trauma, emotion and rehabilitation of surviving a bullet wound through the eyes of those who live it, as well as the intensive care units that treat them. This tell-all documentary goes past the bravado to give viewers a raw and unfiltered look at the real consequences of gun violence.

Bowling Balls (2004)

Musical, Music, Comedy

Bowling Balls follows the story of two girls who break down out in the middle of "what you would call nothingness" during a road trip to Daytona. But almost as if it were too good to be true, a "localer" and "propateer" of a bed and breakfast in town, Mr. Violent J, comes to the rescue. Rather than sit in an old broken down truck in the middle of nowhere while they wait for their friends to come pick them up, they decide to go with J. About 10 seconds in the door is when the bloody mayhem ensues as Shaggy, J's retarded hunchback brother, comes in out of left field and lops one of the girl's head off. Meanwhile, their friends--a snooty Asian girl, a pothead jock and a preppy black guy--are on their way to the bed and breakfast to pick them up. Totally unaware of what is about to happen to them. Soon hatchets will be lodged into foreheads, heads will be accidentally chopped off with scythes and a particularly hilarious scene follows where Shaggy ruthlessly severs a head for a good 2 or 3 minutes. All the while going back and forth from comedic horror show to upbeat and bloody music video.

Kajal encourages Raj to walk, and succeeds. Years later the two continue to be fast friends, and everyone expects them to marry soon. Then Raj is recruited by the Indian Air Force and goes for training for a year and a half. After his training gets over, he rushes to Kajal to propose to her, only to find out that she has given her heart to multimillionaire, Karan Singhania, who owns several airplanes and choppers. Raj congratulates Kajal and Karan, but does not reveal his true feelings. Thereafter the Malhotras move to Nainital, and Raj relocates to Europe for more training. It is here that he meets gorgeous and fun-loving, Jiya, who falls in love with him, and will do anything to marry him. She even re-locates to India, and lives with the Malhotras. Raj finally gives in to Jiya's persistence and agrees to marry her. A delighted Jiya takes Raj to introduce him to her parents, and this is where Raj will find out that her parents are none other than the Singhanias - the same family that Kajal had married into, and that Jiya is Karan's sister. A stunned Raj also finds out that Karan has passed away in a helicopter accident, leaving Kajal a mental wreck. Raj nurses Kajal back to normalcy, and rekindles his love for her. This does not go unnoticed by Jiya, and she forces Kajal to consent to getting married to her friend, Monty, so that she can have Raj for herself. The question remains will Raj give up his love for Kajal and marry Jiya, or will he end up breaking Jiya's heart and not marrying either one of them?

The Story of Lovers Rock (2011)

Documentary, Family, Music

overs Rock, often dubbed 'romantic reggae' is a uniquely black British sound that developed in the late 70s and 80s against a backdrop of riots, racial tension and sound systems. Lovers Rock allowed young people to experience intimacy and healing through dance- known as 'scrubbing'- at parties and clubs. This dance provided a coping mechanism for what was happening on the streets. Lovers Rock developed into a successful sound with national UK hits and was influential to British bands (Police, Culture Club, UB40) These influences underline the impact the music was making in bridging the multi-cultural gap that polarized the times. The film sheds light on a forgotten period of British music, social and political history.
